Overnight and Extended Guests

Overnight visitors staying at the Georgia Center Hotel should use the South Campus Parking Deck located next to the Georgia Center. Offices of many HDFS faculty members are located Houses A and D of the Family Science Center across the street from the Georgia Center on Sanford Drive.  The main departmental office is located in 123 Dawson Hall which is a 5 minute walk from the Georgia Center on Sanford Drive.  You may get additional information about these locations from one of several campus maps.

Directions and Day Visitor Parking

From Atlanta (including Hartsfield International Airport):
Take I-85 North to Exit 106, Highway 316 to Athens. Follow Highway 316 to its end (passing Home Depot on your right) and continue straight on Epps Bridge Parkway until it merges into the Atlanta Highway. Follow the Atlanta Highway (which becomes Broad Street) into downtown Athens and take a right onto S. Lumpkin Street (after the Holiday Inn) then turn left onto Cedar Drive. The Department of Human Development and Family Science is located on the corner of Sanford Drive and Cedar Drive at 305 Sanford Drive. Day visitors are encouraged to park in the South Campus parking deck located on Sanford Drive just past Dawson Hall on the right. This lot conveniently accepts cash or checks for hourly parking.

From Atlanta on Highway 78:
Follow Highway 78 straight into Athens as it becomes the Atlanta Highway. Follow the Atlanta Highway (which becomes Broad Street) into downtown Athens and take a right onto S. Lumpkin Street (after the Holiday Inn) then turn left onto Cedar Drive. The Department of Human Development and Family Science is located on the corner of Sanford Drive and Cedar Drive at 305 Sanford Drive. Day visitors are encouraged to park in the South Campus parking deck located on Sanford Drive just past Dawson Hall on the right. This lot conveniently accepts cash or checks for hourly parking.

From the North:
Take I-85 South to Exit 149, US 441 in Commerce, Georgia. Turn left onto US 441 and travel approximately 20 miles. As you approach Athens you will drive under the Athens Perimeter (Loop 10) and continue into Athens. At the first traffic signal, turn right onto College Avenue and follow College Avenue until it ends at Broad Street in downtown Athens. Turn right onto Broad Street and then left onto Lumpkin Street and finally left onto Cedar Drive. The Department of Child and Family Development is located on the corner of Sanford Drive and Cedar Drive at 305 Sanford Drive. Day visitors are encouraged to park in the South Campus parking deck located on Sanford Drive just past Dawson Hall on the right. This lot conveniently accepts cash or checks for hourly parking.

From the South (US 441 or Georgia 15):
Take US 441 North or Georgia 15 North through Watkinsville, Georgia to Athens. Turn right onto Loop 10 (Athens Perimeter). Take the second exit, Exit 7, College Station Road. Turn left onto College Station Road and take a right onto East Campus Road. Turn left onto Carlton Street and  right onto Sanford Drive. Park in the South Campus parking deck on your left.  This lot conveniently accepts cash or checks for hourly parking.  The Department of Human Development and Family Science is located on the corner of Sanford Drive and Cedar Drive at 305 Sanford Drive. From the East (Augusta):
Take I-20 West to Exit 172 in Thomson, Georgia. Turn right onto US 78. Follow US 78 into downtown Athens (Broad Street). Take a left onto Lumpkin Street and then turn left onto Cedar Drive. The Department of Human Development and Family Science is located on the corner of Sanford Drive and Cedar Drive at 305 Sanford Drive.
