Learning Materials and Activities

Each student's program is designed to achieve specific IEP/IFSP/ITP objectives selected from the DTORF-R developmental assessment and focused on the individual's current stage of social-emotional development.

All DTT lesson plans, units of study, learning materials, and activities are planned around students' developmental stage characteristics. Effective programs reflect these qualities:

  • Conducted in groups
  • Stimulates individual skills
  • Provides age appropriate materials and activities
  • Touches concerns, interests, values, and emotional needs
  • Includes real experiences with positive outcomes
  • Encourages awareness and connection with others
  • Strengthens effectiveness in a peer group
  • Increases social understanding
  • Explores human issues
  • Changes as students make progress
