Water Quality & Testing
We recommend that you test your well water every year to ensure your safety. You can learn more about the quality of your water by reading our household water quality series.
Testing your household water is easy! Just contact your local county extension office to learn how to take a water sample and submit it for testing at the UGA agricultural & environmental services laboratories.
Water Smart Home
This program is designed to educate the general public of the importance of residential water conservation and quality with emphasis on the dangers of improperly disposing of toxic substances that may pollute the water source. Georgia's low literacy coastal population will be targeted with educational materials. The program will create awareness and promote a change in the management of homes so as to reduce risky practices that threaten the environment. Educational materials will be distributed by real estate agents and county extension housing agents to Georgia's coastal homebuyers and renters.
Home*A*Syst

Home*A*Syst is a national program to promote voluntary pollution prevention from the public. This program helps people identify water, air and other pollution risks on their property by implementing several simple assessment checklists. Home*A*Syst has three main objectives:
- Identify environmental risks, concerns, or problems in and around your home.
- Learn about better home and property management and find further information.
- Take preventative actions to safeguard your health and the environment.
