The University of Georgia Student Dietetic Association is an organization run by students in
the Department of Foods and Nutrition majoring in Dietetics. Our goal to serve the college,
community, and each other is met by involving as many dietetics students as possible to promote
a message of health, good nutrition, and exercise. We participate in various service projects
such as preparing meals for local homeless shelters and helping out with local run/walks such as Relay for Life. We also raise money for Share Our Strength, an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America, and for Cookies for Kids, an organization that supports children's cancer research. Ours club hosts various speakers from around the state who inform us about
internship programs, job options in the field of dietetics, and even eating healthy. In order
to make connections with the professors in our department, SDA hosts faculty meal once or
twice a year so we can talk one-on-one and get to know them. Though our organization stays
very busy and works very hard to accomplish our goals, we also have lots of fun spending time
together and making memories to last a lifetime.

Committees 2011-2012
If you are interested in joining a particular committee, please contact that committee's chair.
Communications
This committee will serve to enhance communication within the club. Members of this committee will prepare the SDA bulletin board, putting up new items every month. The Communications Committee updates the SDA facebook page for meetings, dates and special events. Also, this committee will have a telephone tree in case we ever need to contact our members by phone. The chairman of this committee will keep a list of all SDA members and their telephone numbers, email addresses and mailing addresses. This commitee will also go to classrooms to announce upcoming meetings. Media Committee Head: Justine Venick jviva27@uga.edu
Social
This committee will take part in planning social activities for the club. Members of this committee will coordinate refreshments for our meetings. Also, they will plan at least one social event each semester. Social Committee Head: Courtney Spillane cms12@uga.edu
Projects
This committee will make sure our projects run smoothly. Members will plan the logistics of different projects throughout the year. These projects may include, but are not limited to, bake sales to raise money for Share Our Strength and Cookies for Kids, preparing meals for the homeless shelter, and student jobs and volunteer work within the campus or community. Special Events
This committee is responsible for the club's annual special events and any other special events within the college. Members will plan the South Campus Tailgate, Faculty Dinner/Breakfast, Professor of the Month, GDA Fundraising National Nutrition Month, and other special events.
