Research
My interests focus on the influences that the built environment may have on the learning outcome of students, cultural symbolism, habitats and place identity. Although my studies enphasize higher education students, I also conduct research in the areas of elderly housing and healthcare.
Teaching
Fundamentals of hand drafting, design process, space planning and programing, residential design, aging in place design, sustainability and LEED certification process, building codes and systems, ligthing, healthcare design, history of design and professional practice.

Outreach
Have coordinated service learning student projects with the non-profit organizations of Athens Land Trust, Athens Council for the Aging and UGA's Institute of Human Development and Disability. In addition my classes also assist with smaller service learning projects that UGA or other local Athens, Georgia organizations may need assistance with, such as Talmadge Terraces, an Athens, GA. assisted living community.

Job Description
Associate Professor for Furnishings and Interiors in the Textile, Merchandising and Interiors Department of the College of FACS. My job description responsibilities are as follows: 1) Teach undergraduate courses and graduate courses in furnishings and interiors with a typical teaching load of 4 courses per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters); 2) conduct and publish research or creative works in area of specialization; demonstrate potential for outstanding achievement in the professional discipline; acquire external funding to support research/creative work; 3) advise students; 4) provide service to professional organizations, department, college and the university.
