The New York Study Away Maymester Program offers fashion merchandising and furnishings and interiors students an action-packed schedule. Through professional visits, students learn about e-commerce, digital marketing, trend analysis, brand conceptualization and sustainable fashion practices. They familiarize themselves with various fashion auxiliary services, the best practices of social media use in the fashion industry and about launching fashion startups, among many others. Students will also have the opportunity to meet designers of global design houses, stylists, makeup artists, runway models etc. Additionally, they attend a Broadway show, visit the Metropolitan Museum’s fashion exhibit and explore New York’s vibrant fashion and retail environment. After the visits, students have the opportunity to explore New York and do some shopping as well.
Students sign up for TXMI 5710 for 3 undergraduate credits or TXMI 7710 3 for graduate credits.

Approximate Cost
$1,040.00 plus airfare and the cost of the 3 credit hour course. The student is responsible for their own travel to and from NYC.
The first deposit of $150.00 is due to OGE by March 1, 2023, through the Study Away portal. Balance due May 1, 2023.
Once accepted, student must register for TXMI 5710/7710 and FSTY 1033 in order to go on the trip.
*If NYC is open with normal business activity, but there is deemed to be too much risk and UGA makes the decision to cancel, non-refundable payments will not be returned.
**If a student becomes sick with COVID on the week of trip and can't go, then non-refundable payments will not be returned. If they become sick on the trip, they would also be liable for additional, personal costs (i.e. hotel, medication, food, etc).
***If City and State officials deem it unsafe with NYC businesses closing completely/if the trip is absolutely not feasible, with another pandemic event, natural disaster or terrorist attack, then a full refund granted of non-refundable payments will be granted.

- Meeting times and attendance is required: February 28, 2023 (Tuesday); March 29, 2023 (Wednesday); and April 26, 2023 (Wednesday) from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in 205 Barrow Hall.
