The Cooking for a Life Time Cancer Prevention Cooking School
This cooking school is offered periodically by Extension Family and Consumer Science Agents throughout the state of Georgia. It promotes screening for breast and cervical cancer and teaches how to reduce risk for cancer through healthy food choices and physical activity.

The Rite Bite Diabetes Cooking School
This diabetes cooking school was revised in 2022. The curriculum teaches the meal planning and food preparation skills that will reduce calories, control carbohydrate, modify fat and increase fiber so those affected by diabetes can achieve better blood glucose and blood pressure control.
Objectives
Participants will be able to
- prepare recipes and plan meals that are reduced in fat, sugar, and sodium and are higher in fiber
- use the Plate Method to plan meals
- use artificial sweeteners appropriately
- modify fat intake to reduce cardiovascular disease risk
- control blood pressure
- use herbs and spices to reduce sodium intake
- increase their intake of fruits and vegetables
- use nutrition labels to choose healthier foods
- control portions

The program has eight lessons. Most people will only offer a series of three at one time:

Each lesson includes a script, handouts and Power Point slides.

The original version of this curriculum won the 1997 Creative Nutrition Education Award from the Diabetes Care and Education Practice Group of the American Dietetic Association and the 2001 Southern Regional Award of the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Association for Educational Curriculum Packages. This revised edition has even more information, handouts and activities.
